History of Genoa is always connected with the port, with its trade, with its culture which followed the ships coming from every course, embracing the trade of coffee since its born. The aroma, the intense and unique taste of coffee never left the "old lighthouse". The legendary berries, closed in the jute bags, bended the back of generations of porters, before to enter in the containers to reach the cups of the great bars of north Italy and Europe. City and Port were connected for ever by the same fragrance, and Giuseppe Borea came from that port, when, in 1936, opened a little coffee shop in a quiet village of Ligurian seaside, Albenga. To emphasize the link of the port and the city of Genoa, the shop were called "La Genovese". The scent of colonial aroma, so loved by porters, began to wrap up the habitants of Albenga, who became fond of it. The little shop of that gentleman of Genoa began to serve bars and restaurants of the town, and, after the war, with the renaissance of life and consumptions, the name of La Genovese coffee grew in the whole Riviera.
